The phone also comes with a triple 13 MP + 2 MP + QVGA rear camera and an 8 MP front camera for selfies. Infinix Hot 12 runs on Android 12, XOS 10.6, and a 5000 mAh battery powers all this.

Unboxing

Opening the box, the first thing you’ll see is the smartphone. Depending on the one you choose it will be Racing Black, Legend White, Origin Blue, or Lucky Green. In the box, you also get a customer service card and a SIM ejector tool warranty card. What this card means is if you happen to break your display within the first 30 days of activation, it will be replaced for free. PS: By Infinix. Still in the box is a pamphlet, free fire stickers, a $25 free fire gift card voucher, one X Gold note, a free fire plastic case that looks amazing, an 18 Watts charger, a USB type C cable, and earphones.

Design and Build

For the build quality, the Infinix Hot 12 has a plastic rear plastic frame with a flash edge design and glass at the front. No, it doesn’t have an IP rating. But if you happen to drop it inside water for a few seconds, it should survive. As for its external features, this phone has a dual SIM card on a memory tray. At the top there’s nothing, the right side has the volume and power button which is also the fingerprint scanner that unlocks the smartphone instantly.

At the bottom, there’s a 3.5 mm. Audio Jack, a microphone, a USB-type port, and one of its speakers. Yes, Infinix Hot 12 has dual speakers. The other speaker is located at the top right where your phone and ear meet while on a phone call. The sound it’s alright. The back of Infinix Hot 12i has three cameras and a flash LED light on the right side of the camera sensors. The front-facing camera also has an LED light which doesn’t come on for notifications.

Performance

Powering the Infinix Hot 12 is the MediaTek Helio G85 processor which is a two-year-old (2020) gaming processor. This is a capable budget gaming processor that offers sustained performance with it and smoother gameplay. For multitasking, this comes in 6GB RAM or 4GB RAM with memory fusion. You can expand the RAM up to 3GB RAM. When it comes to using apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, and TikTok it will run those apps easily.

For the Android operating system, Infinix Hot 12 runs Android 12. It does have ads and bloats which are annoying, but luckily you can’t disable or remove them. Typical for XOS, and this one runs XOS 10.6. Under the battery department, the Infinix Hot 12 comes with a Li-Ion 5000 mAh, non-removable battery, and it will last the entire day. Using its included 18W fast charger it will take about an hour and a half to charge this phone.

Display

The display of the Infinix Hot 12 is at 6.82 inches, 111.7 cm2 (~84.5% screen-to-body ratio) but it doesn’t feel big when you hold it. It’s an IPS LCD panel with a resolution of 720 x 1612 pixels and it has a refresh rate of 90 Hz and it touch sampling rate of 180 Hz. High refresh rates make for smooth scrolling on this and any smartphone. The colors look good on this display, but with this smartphone outdoors, it might be a struggle under direct phone lights. Nonetheless using this display to consume media is good.

Cameras

Moving to the cameras of the Infinix Hot 12, the front-facing camera has an 8 MP sensor. Its photos are okay and portrait shots are decent as well. Moving to the rear cameras, it has a 13 MP, f/1.8, (wide), AF + 2 MP + VGA camera. Photos were taken with the main camera looking descent. Portrait shots look amazing with good details. It can shoot up to 2k and [email protected] videos.

Our take

The Infinix Hot 12 is a fun and fast smartphone at an affordable price. It has a 6.82-inch display with a refresh rate of 90 Hz, a 5,000 mAh battery, dual stereo speakers, and it’s running Android 12 out of the box. The build quality of the Infinix Hot 12 is good, the processor is okay, it has a large 5000 mAh battery that will last the entire day, and it’s running Android 12. On the other hand, if you are okay with the 720p display, even though looks good and has a 90 Hz refresh would put some people off. The display is also not that bright. The cameras can take good pictures in good lighting conditions. But it isn’t going to blow you away. Also, the charging time of more than an hour and 42 minutes is a bit too long for 2022 standards.
